Your code will need to be clean and robust. You are, after all, working in public and your customers are software engineering teams who themselves are working on tricky distributed systems that are highly performant.

At least 5 years of software engineering experience 
You have worked heavily in Java and probably consider it your strong suit

It would be a massive bonus if you have previously built databases or spent a lot of time figuring out how to get the most from the ones you have used.
